Heart Mates?
I had heard a lot more than once how Chows are extremely pet like within their temperament and attitudes and because I have had two of them in my life I can confirm this! Given this similarity I was still unprepared for my recent Chows love of cats. My last dog chased cats like every genetically proper pup have to do, so I was amazed at my current pup and her feline fascination.
My buddy Keisha was only five weeks old when she met her first cat. His name was Pongo and h-e was also five months old. We were browsing with family in Omaha Nebraska for Christmas and Keisha was determined to create friends with Pongo. Pongo could have nothing to do with her!
They tip toed around each other for three days-even coming nose to nose sooner or later. Then on Boxing Day we had just finished our meal of leftoversyou know turkey sandwiches and such, when we heard an accident in your kitchen. Accepting nothing serious we were slow to react.
When we finally moseyed into the kitchen to get going on the post-lunch washing they were found in the act! There they werePongo and Keisha nose to nose eating the chicken that someone (?!?!?) had pushed from the counter onto the-floor. Not him and they"d an excellent meal together and even after their label group mischief, Pongo was still reluctant while I think he was beginning to warm up to the concept to become fast friends, after all Keisha had enjoyed the poultry!
Regrettably we"d to leave ahead of the relationship was cemented. We have maybe not seen Pongo since but Keisha reacts most readily to his name still, over 3 years later.
Keisha is practically four years of age now and since meeting Pongo she has tried to socialize with every cat she meets. They"ve all wanted practically nothing to do with her. And then came MOJO.
Mojo is owned-by a neighbor and is definitely an outside cat. He entirely fits his title and struts through the engine as if he owns it and has c-omplete get a handle on overall that decreases in it. He definitely has his MOJO goin on!
At first Keisha approached him cautiously, and he would bat at her with his paws, but never with claws out. Gradually they got closer and closer to each other. There was the dancing around each other time that looked really interesting as each would take their turn getting forward then backward not unlike some routine. Next Mojo began to walk around and under Keisha logically putting his tail in her face. She managed to preserve her aloof pride when he does the end in face thing. All this has progressed to Mojo coming for walks with us, he come to visit and waits at-the door for Keisha to emerge to play. Keisha will put her paw on his bum to get the game of chase going and he will begin the game by working or he will roll onto his straight back and swat at Keisha with all four feet if Mojo is in-the mood. Mojo may be the leader within the relationship notwithstanding his 10 lbs to Keishas 60!
It"s the most wonderful thing to see and the neighborhood is captivated by those two fast friends.
To see them together one wonders why some cats and dogs get on and others desire to destroy each other. Is it perhaps a past life spent together? Early influences like Pongo? Perhaps Keisha was a cat in her last life and thus the affinity for cats and cat like behaviour? Or are they just all very different individuals with views and very different people? Who knows for certain? All I know is that my heart always warms when I see them together and am impressed by this friendship that really seems like soul mates doing his thing..
